Chickpea Burger

Makes: 4 servings
Ingredients:
- One 14-ounce can chickpeas, drained
- 2 teaspoons crushed garlic
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric
- 1/4 teaspoon fennel
- 1/4 teaspoon sage
- 1/4 teaspoon rosemary
- 1/8 teaspoon oregano
- 1/4 cup brown rice flour
- 1 tablespoon flax meal
For cooking:
- 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions:
- Place the chickpeas in a bowl and mash them until no chunks remain.
- Add all remaining ingredients to the chickpeas and mix well. Use your hands for best results to combine thoroughly.
- Form the mixture into 4 patties.
- Heat a pan to medium with olive oil. Sauté turmeric and black pepper for 1 minute until sizzling and forming a thicker paste.
- Spread the paste evenly over the pan, then add the patties. Cook for 4 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
